Princess Yaya and her clan live in perfect harmony in their African homeland,
until their peace is violently shattered by European slavers who capture them
and force them into the brutal slave trade in Cuba.
Once there, they are auctioned off, torn from the life they once knew.
But Yaya, driven by the strength of her indomitable spirit, rises in rebellion.
Leading her clan into the mountains, finally reclaiming their long-awaited freedom.
Though they rejoice in their newfound liberty,
the longing for their lost Africa remains like a flame that never fades.

Four hundred years later, Yaya, a direct descendant of the princess taken from her native Africa, now lives in a traditional Havana solar. She wrestles with the ghosts of the past, haunted by the deep-seated prejudices tied to her African ancestry and the challenges that come with her race.
The second act reveals how African roots remains deeply woven into the fabric of contemporary Cuban life. It explores the cultural expressions born from this heritage, illuminating a legacy that, like an eternal echo, refuses to fade.
